A butterfly is a powerful metaphor for counselling because it represents change that happens over time.
In counselling, people often revisit old patterns, beliefs, or experiences that once helped them survive but may no longer fit. Like a butterfly, transformation doesn’t come from getting rid of the past. The “old” becomes the foundation for something new.
Much of this work happens quietly and gradually. It takes patience and strength to stay with hard feelings and keep going, even when progress isn’t obvious. A butterfly reflects this ability to continue through uncertainty and emerge with greater freedom, clarity, and self-understanding.
